I LOVE friday evenings. I think it's THE-BEST-TIME-OF-THE-WEEK. Simply because the whole weekend is ahead and everyone can start rewinding. I usually cook something nice. Last friday we had lamb with "died-and-went-to-heaven" mashed potatoes with garlic and cream. For desert we had chocolate cake with double frosting ummhh...
Afterwards, I strolled with Andrea and Arna to the sewing room for a real cozy time together, quilting, chatting and laughing. Davíð sat down by the computer (in the same room) and listened to us blabber and the sewing machines purring while he blew away some tanks!
Andrea kept on sewing her quilt since Langamýri and Arna was making a cute teddybear quilt for her teddy, Marel. Marel is a true gentle(teddy)man, a former "get-well" teddy of her grandma and a present "love-you-to-the-moon-and-back" teddy of Arna. The pore thing is 13 years old, ageing a bit, it will be really nice for him to get a new warm quilt where every stitch is made with pure love! :)
It's already four weeks since Andrea and I went to Langamýri in north of Iceland. Like I told you in previous post Langamýri is a former homemaking school for women in north of Iceland. The ladies at Quiltbúðin, a quiltshop in Akureyri (also north of Iceland) arrange a sewing weekend in Langamýri every fall (this was their 12th year)... actually they arrange five weekends in a row because of the popularity!! I always go with couple of friends and this time I took my Andrea with me.
Andrea has gotten the taste of it and I think there's no turning back, I'm never going without her again... which I LOVE because it was such a perfect weekend for us together :)
We staid together in a room, listened to great music the whole way forth and back, had a load of laughing moments, sewing and qulting, had good food every day and we just had a blast together! Our friends, Helga and Fríða were sitting at the next table so we had the perfect company. Andrea finished the center of a quilt, the first blocks she makes all on her own, cutting, sewing and ironing (I'm so proud!) - And she couldn't wait in the mornings for me to wake up, when I went out to the sewing room she was already there, sewing, ironing and cutting :)
Here are some (okay, many!!) picture from our weekend
Don't we all recognize a car trunk like that?!
My friend Villa and I always buy new matching socks when we are on our way to Langamýri. This time, unfortunately, Villa couldn't come with us, so I bought one with Andrea

Andrea took a dip into the hot tub (which is so big it's more lika a round swimming pool) in her mermaid swim costume... so cool!
The ladies relax after a busy sewing day!

These two show up every year with a new funny program, playing the guitar and singing popular songs with the text altered to quilting :)
Andrea thought they were so funny!! :)
Andrea helped me with the show and tell... she said she was going to have her own show and tell next year :)
Sewing makes happy!
Andrea went on a fabric shopping spree (who hasn't?!!!)
These three got to go with us to the country :)
Andrea's quilt center ready (I love the colors she choose)
Langamýri, a beautiful place!
On the way home we stopped for a visit at the farm (it's called Kagaðarhóll) I used to stay on when I was a little girl. A wonderful lady lives there, Sigríður, it was so nice to see her again after all these year and to show Andrea the place :) - Sigríður is 81 year old and she took her driving licence when she was 75!! Nothing is impossible ladies!
Have a creative day!
